Lack of confidence is a roadblock for so many people in so many situations:
Getting an education, applying for a new job, leaving a bad relationship, going after a good relationship–you name it and you’ll find folks who are not moving forward because they lack confidence.
Fake it ’til you make it is an effective way to get off pause and push play. A way to get back in the game. Or get in it for the very first time.
Hey, look. It’s not just you. You’re not alone. We all have our insecurities. Trust me: there are many people afraid to make that same first move you’re afraid of. Maybe even me.
So put on a good front. Act like you know what you’re doing, like you have all the confidence in the world. Fake it if you must. Because once the behavior changes, a more positive attitude isn’t far behind.
Don’t be tentative–embrace the situation and the effort as important ways to learn. And a way to get what you want.
What’s the worst that can happen?
And even more important: What’s the BEST that can happen?
So pull up your big girl panties, take a deep breath and dive right into it.
I suspect you’ll be surprised at what happens. In a good way.
Is that what life is all about? Faking it until we make it, starting with learning how to walk. We’re not the best at it when we start out. We keep falling over, but we get up and try again. Once we start walking, it usually looks like a heavy, but unsteady gait until finally, there’s that day that walking is natural and appears as if we’ve been doing it correctly all this time.

Profound, Jennifer, thank you.
I love this. Sometimes you absolutely have to fake it until you make it. Behave your way to success is another good one. Basically, you emulate the actions that you want to take on until they become your actions.

Truth, thank you!
I love your blogs, but I also love the comments…they are also very wise. The thing is this is SO TRUE! and I am so glad I read this because this morning started off with news that could have caused me grief. But I am faking it…I am saying it will all be ok….
Blessings to you on this hard day.
This is such an honest post. I started a new job and after a few weeks I was like “OMG, I am so out of my element.” Honestly, I had no clue what the heck I was doing but no one else seemed to see that I was struggling. After a while everything panned out and I was right on track. I guess I had been faking it all along until I learned how to do the job and thank goodness it all worked out in the end. I loved the job and miss my team immensely.
This is all too true, and too funny as well. It’s so ironic that we live in a world where the hardest workers are not the ones who always succeed, but the ones who can fake it the best are the ones who come out on top.

I used to think fake it till you make it was being inauthentic but I learned it’s really the opposite. It’s being who you know you are even if you haven’t become that person yet!

I love that motto! Sometimes I just need time to process!
Fake it until you make it. I love it. It’s not always so easy, but I find this very effective.

Sometimes you know you are able to do something, you have done it successfully before, but due to circumstances, you do not feel confident enough to do it this time. This is when “Fake it till you make it” comes in very useful. It can give you the artificial confidence you need to succeed.
Just don’t do it with horses, they can see right through you.

i am kind of on the fence about fake it until you make it. I believe yes if you do fake the energy that you already have what you want or moving in the direction you want you will get it through manifestation but too much faking could be misleading.

There have been many occasions where I have definitely faked it to make it and glad I did. Not everyone can muster up courage on the daily so its great when you can fake it.

I find that if you fake it properly, it allows you to get an inside edge, and people won’t talk to you like your incapable. It allows a chance for more insight and professionalism to reach you.

Couldn’t agree more? It’s how I live my life. If I’m not confident in something, I find a way to believe in myself and just go for it. A good quote from JK Rowling, “Anything can happen if you have enough nerve.”

Yessssss! So agree with this. Most good stuff in my life absolutely started this way.
It seems like a flip comment to make but it’s subtly profound. It’s a great way to get places in life and everyone has done it at some point.
Oh, my goodness! This is so empowering! I feel as though I could do anything!
