London Dispatch: The King’s hunting grounds

June 9, 2013

Green Park on a beautiful spring day is an oasis of green in a city’s city.

Green Pk2No sign of its past as a famous dueling ground.

Green Pk3I wonder if these stalwart old trees stood back in the 16th century?

2580368_70e8acbdDown the road a little bit at Hyde Park, I can imagine King Henry the 8th hunting on horseback. He acquired the land as hunting grounds and it still retains the feel of it. Who knows, maybe at night, the ghosts of kings and courtiers past ride to the hunt here.
