The river that flows in you also flows in me.
~Kabir
While I understand the politics of fear intellectually, it is very hard to understand how many in our country have fallen prey to it. It’s like they’ve drunk some strange brew that alters their view of reality.
Of course, they’d say the same thing of me. I get that.
For months I’ve been thinking it’s all about differences in world view and trying to understand how those differences develop. And then, I saw this quote.
It does appear that people susceptible to the politics of fear simply can not see how much we are alike–far more alike than we are different. When you do not see our commonalities, when you see primarily our differences, it’s easy to be vulnerable to those who would prey on fear of people and things that are different.
The river that flows in me also flows in you. It is undeniable.
And yet.
I pray for those who can not see this– and our nation –and I pray really hard that the politics of fear do not drive the rest of my life and yours.
I love this quote, Carol!
Praying, too!

Yes, I would bet you are.
PRAYING AND WRITING AND HOPING AND….VOTING.
Voting is for sure!
I hope the prayers of thousands work, because I am not optimistic at all about the days ahead. So many have closed their heats and minds, even now believing conspiracy theories that leave me without words.
