It seems so obvious, doesn’t it?
And yet, how often do we mess it up?
Or take it for granted?
A good friend gave me a plaque this year that says
Friendship is a sheltering tree.
I agree.
The love of real friends provides a refuge from any storm.
Romantic love is like the sheltering sky.
It envelops us entirely
and under its umbrella, it’s safe to be our best self.
And our worst.
Love like that is worth taking care of.
Because it really is our greatest fortune.
