Sonoma autumn

October 4, 2016 By Carol Cassara 15 Comments

Sonoma-autumnAutumn leaves tell us that the year is drawing to a close and like everyone else, I wonder where it’s gone.

Fall is my favorite season in just about any part of the country. It’s when the weather is gorgeous and the views even more so. It’s the best time to travel to so many places–New England, northern California, the Great Lakes–it’s a great time to visit so many parts of the country and the world.

We especially love the California wine country in fall. But here’s the problem: There’s too little autumn. It’s too short a season. (I’d like to start a movement to extend fall weather a few more months.)

We’ve been spending our autumns in Santa Fe these last few years and plan to continue to do that next year, as well. So we’re missing out on one of the loveliest times to visit our favorite wine country: Sonoma. There’s nothing like a Sonoma autumn.

And here’s why–one of my favorite posts ever.

Fall is the best time of year so I’m with you about extending it. Here in PA, we have majestic Autumn weather. I’m already getting a sneak preview of colors changing, fall festival, and long scenic drives. Yep, I could do with it for extended months indeed!

I was just wondering why winter and summer seem to seep over spring and fall. I’m not sure we can do anything but enjoy them while they last.

I’m personally Summer’s child but I will agree that the weather is typically favorable in other regions. I am going to try to go on a hunt to see nice foliage. And, one sweet day I will find a way to get to California’s wine country.

I grew up in Hawaii, so the fall season doesn’t really exist there – no change in temperature or leaves. Now that we live in California, I love the chill in the weather and the change in the trees.

Fall is also one of my favorite seasons simply because the weather is perfect and you don’t have to worry about sweating or being too cold. Everything’s so beautiful as well. I like the idea of spending fall in Santa Fe, life is not as hectic there as compared to NYC! I think this season is a little to short for all of us to enjoy too.
