Okey dokey, boomers

February 4, 2020 By Carol Cassara 3 Comments

OK-BoomersFirst, I want to send warm wishes and love to Rebecca Olkowski with BabyBoomster.com, who is having a rough week. Her partner of 15 years is now in at-home hospice care for Pancreatic cancer. As you can imagine, she hasn’t been able to focus on writing this week. Instead, she wanted to share a 3-week trip they both took a while back in a sailboat through the Grenadines and Grenada, which is in the West Indies. She reports that it was amazing!  UPDATE: Rebecca’s partner passed away after she sent this in. Please send loving thoughts her way.

Laurie Stone of Musings, Rants & Scribble’s son, Paul, suggested something the other day so scary, so cringe-inducing, so horrific, she had to hold onto her kitchen counter for support. “I need a new bureau,” he said. “Let’s go back to Ikea.” All Laurie could do was shake her head, repeating the word, “No.” She will not go back to IKEA for these nine reasons”…

Meryl Baer of Six Decades and Counting spent a week soaking up the sun on a Caribbean cruise. She has cruised in the past and mostly enjoys the experience. Some people love cruising, others not so much. If you have never cruised but are thinking about a cruise vacation, check out Baer’s posts on the pros of a cruise vacation and some cons of cruising. It may be the perfect getaway, or a disappointment.

On The Survive and Thrive Boomer Guide, Rita R. Robison, consumer and personal finance journalist, has a guest blogger who writes about what to do when mobility starts to decline. Among the tips are talk to your doctor, tell your family, and assess your home.

Jennifer, of Unfold and Begin, realizes that some people have a hard time trying to follow their dream and wants to remind everyone to go for it.  In That One Thing You Need to Do to Follow Your Dream, Jennifer shares the attitude you need to take and what you should say.  Don’t let fear stop you.

Tom at Sightings Over Sixty is joining the Snowbirds this week. Well, almost so, as he reports in Just So You Know.

And I’m all about kindness this year, and am sharing with you a new concept (to me: kindsight.

that’s it for this edition of what Boomers are doing this month. Catch you here when it’s my turn to host again!
